Falconry is a favoured form of control for larger sites. Highly trained birds of prey are flow to discourage the existing bird infestation from roosting of nesting. The birds of prey used are slower then a Pigeon and will only chase for a short distance therefore any bird caught would be sick, old or juvenile. This service would require an initial intensive service followed by programmed visits; duration of visits depending on the site.
This is considered to be the Natural method of control as a predator is being introduced into the area.
As we offer all services for the control of birds we would recommend the most cost effective method of control, not the most expensive.
This is an alternative to falconry but not as acceptable to client's staff. This must be done on a regular basis to achieve the desired results.
Netting is installed to area to stop bird access. Nets can be installed over the front of building (face nets), enclose light wells (cap nets) or to the open area of the buildings (drop nets). This is a permanent method of stopping birds from re-entering nesting or roosting areas.
"Spikes" are installed to horizontal areas of infestation such pipes and ledges. No drilling of the building structure is necessary as this system is installed with industrial Adhesive. "Spikes" are manufactured in plastic and metal, both have plastic bases. Only effective against (Columba livia) and gull species.
Only effective in areas of very light infestation, or where prevention is required. Sprung wire are tensioned between posts, when the bird attempts to land it is deterred by the flexing of the wire. Very little used these days, only effective against Pigeons (columba livia) and gull species.
Bird debris removed from loft spaces and sanitised. All debris removed from site. Insulation can be replaced. Areas of bird entry identified and to be "proofed" by Pro-Pest services or by the clients roofing or building contractors. The area is treated prior to and on completion with a biocide.
We are regularly contracted by builders and roofers to deal with this work before their staff move in.
Pro-Pest Services carry out this work under permit from D.E.F.R.A. The method of control depends on the location and the specific clients requirements. As with all wild life control the reason for reduction or eliminations of the specific pest species must be justified in law. For further information please contact our office.
